Participatory Campus Planning
For universities situated in a metropolitan area, planning and growing such urban campuses can pose several unique challenges that conventional urban planning methods cannot fully support. The campus in question is Ryerson University, which has buildings and facilities situated in downtown Toronto, one of the most populous cities in North America.
In this project, we use interactive tabletops and active tangibles to enhance collaborative campus planning. The goal is to use new technologies to engage the stakeholders (students, faculty, and staff; local business, residents; and even authorities and decision makers), to explore new design potentials, and to aid existing campus planning methods.
